About this part

Shock Overview:

The Yeah Racing Aluminum Desert Lizard Two Stage Internal Spring Shocks are a high-performance upgrade designed to enhance the suspension of your 1/10 scale crawler. Pre-assembled for convenience, these shocks are a perfect fit for a range of rigs, including the HPI Crawler King, Gmade R1 Komodo, Axial SCX10, and more. Inspired by real-life crawler suspension systems, the internal spring design keeps the springs protected from dirt and debris, making these shocks as tough and trail-ready as your crawler demands.

About the Aluminum Desert Lizard Shocks

Customizable Suspension

The Desert Lizard shocks include a full set of springs and machined pistons, allowing you to fine-tune your setup for various driving conditions. Whether you prefer a sprung setup for increased flex and suspension travel or a droop setup for a lower center of gravity and reduced rollover risk, these shocks can be customized to match your style. Built from durable aluminum and featuring a double O-ring sealed body, they effectively prevent oil leakage while delivering smooth, consistent damping performance. Additionally, these shocks are available in different sizes and colors, allowing you to tailor both the look and performance to your exact build.

Great shocks, easy to bleed, good springs to tune a crawler. Only problem i had was the joint on shock body itself is a stupid design. comes with pivot balls that place the shock body all the way up to one side of your shock mount so if you run them inverted they bind and really restrict your articulation. Being that the shock body is metal(which is great) one side has a smaller ID so you cannot fit flanged pivot balls into them, this design also being why they include the pivot balls that are flush on one end, to hold the shock onto the pivot in the correct spot by the use of a bolt or your shock mount. taper bolts work ok to help but only upright. shotty design, has taken me a bit of searching to find the right pivot ball that will fit and still allow the shock to pivot freely. i used their replacement o-rings to hold the body onto the pivot ball the way it should be. the shocks otherwise function great. just a pita with the stupid pivot ball setup. if they had a better pivot design on the shock body id give them a 4-5. capra pivot balls work good but they are wide as heck. samix pivot balls od are to big, binded on the ball itself. annoying process to get these things to articulate freely inverted. These are my second set of lizard shocks. For good reason. Slim. Tunable. Leak proof. Different springs with different rates. Different damping/ rebound diffusers. Extra o-rings galore. Love them. Absolute love them.

Got mine elsewhere but these are great shocks and super easy to setup. I’m using 35 weight oil on my scx10 III and I love them

I would have to give it 4.5 because they perform great they look awesome on my TRX4 and they come with all the tuning options you might need and extra o rings. HOWEVER, they dont come with any extra c clips which are the parts you are most likely to lose.

Can't think of a reason not to give 5 starts. Absolutely love the tenability and I've had no leaks so far (unlike my Axial, Vanquish, and Element shocks). They are also easier to clean after running in dusty environments than my other coil sprung shocks. Have them on my Capra and am looking at another seat for my Phoenix.

What reviewers say

Reviewers largely praise these two-stage internal spring shocks for tunability, smooth damping, ease of setup and bleeding, and few reported leaks. Several use them for crawling with droop setups and find them easier to clean than other coil-sprung shocks. Recurring criticisms concern fitment and hardware: the ball-joint design can bind when run inverted, one reviewer reported a gap that let the shock slide off a Traxxas mount, and one found them too short for an Axial AX10 Scorpion. Other points raised include no spare C-clips, cheap-feeling plastic cases, shocks measuring about 10mm longer eye to eye than the stated length, and one report of driveshaft over-extension at full droop. All reviews are for the Black (2) variant.

  • + Easy to tune and set up
  • + Smooth, good damping
  • + Leak-free in reported use
  • + Extra O-rings included
  • − Ball-joint fitment can bind or slip
  • − No spare C-clips included
  • − Plastic cases feel cheap
  • − Length runs about 10mm longer than stated
