About this part

Shock Overview:

The Yeah Racing Aluminum Desert Lizard Two Stage Internal Spring Shocks are a high-performance upgrade designed to enhance the suspension of your 1/10 scale crawler. Pre-assembled for convenience, these shocks are a perfect fit for a range of rigs, including the HPI Crawler King, Gmade R1 Komodo, Axial SCX10, and more. Inspired by real-life crawler suspension systems, the internal spring design keeps the springs protected from dirt and debris, making these shocks as tough and trail-ready as your crawler demands.

About the Aluminum Desert Lizard Shocks

I ran these for 3+ hours straight on the trails, crawling, water crossing, trail running. They held most of their oil for the entire time. Only 1 of the 4 shocks has some air noise in it, but I can safely say i would run these again without re-filling the oil or replacing the seals and feel that they would work just fine. I did modify them a bit, i drilled 2 of the holes in the pistons to 1.8mm to increase the flow of oil a bit better. The dampening in them stock is very high, i almost considered running them with just enough oil to lube the insides up because it was so stiff. But after drilling the pistons and putting in 20wt oil with the soft spring droop setup these worked awesome. They absorb small bumps and allow for a massive amount of articulation all the while keeping the tires on the ground where they belong. If you are like me and think that shock companies should be producing shocks that can actually handle being run for hours on end without losing all of their oil, then these will satisfy you. I would give them a 5 star rating but out of the box they are very stiff and took a little bit of work to get them to be usable in my eyes. Overall i am very happy with them and i feel like they have out preformed the other 2 brands of shocks i have tried by leaps and bounds. When i am in the market for more shocks i will certainly buys these again.

Absolutely fantastic shock. Internal springs keep them clean and easy. They seal well and don't leak much at all. I recommend getting m3 standoffs in case there is clearance issues, The shock bodies are pretty thick. But the droop setup is a life saver, It "catches" my 11 pound trx4 well and prevents 90% of rollovers. Really can't beat this shock at this price. Plenty of adjustment and good performance. 10w is where it's at! Smooth as silk.

They have worked great for me. I have them installed upside down and they haven’t leaked a drop of oil.

Awesome shocks! I got these for my TRX-4 after the stock shocks eventually ran out of oil and wore down, so I got these and boy are they good! These take a decent amount of tuning for your application, but I used 30wt oil and a midrange spring (no droop) for my TRX-4, but YMMV. Once they’re installed and tuned, they’re awesome! No leaks, no issues, just smooth shock absorption. I’m not a huge fan of the ball ends that came with them, but it’s a small complaint. They compress just as small as the stock shocks, but they extend almost 3-4mm longer, which is always a bonus.

Have these on my high trail trx 4 and they work great. Almost limitless adjustability. Don't leak. Great product.

What reviewers say

Reviewers generally rate these aluminum two-stage internal spring shocks highly, with most reporting no leaks and good performance on TRX-4, LMT, and other RC rigs. Several note extensive adjustability through spring sets and oil weights; one reviewer used 30wt oil with a midrange spring, another used 10wt and 40wt. The droop setup is cited as helpful for catching rollovers. Some reviewers mention tuning takes effort, and one found the stock dampening very stiff until they drilled the pistons. Ball ends were called a minor complaint. One reviewer reported a shock cap without a bleed line, making filling difficult. Several reviews are brief or report untested use.

  • + No leaks reported
  • + Wide adjustability with multiple spring rates
  • + Good value for the price
  • + Droop setup helps prevent rollovers
  • − Requires tuning to suit the application
  • − Stock dampening can be very stiff
  • − Shock cap missing bleed line in one unit
  • − Ball ends not preferred by one reviewer
